David's Story

Sometime in the summer of 2016, I was very drunk in a well known Adidas bar called Blocbar. Of course Martin Love brought me there. I don’t remember much of how we got chatting but Katie seems to think I was sad, it was actually a combination of being very drunk
and bored of taking about Adidas!!

I didn’t get the kiss but I did get a number, waheyyy!

So in a deep sate of a hangover I text her the most charming good morning, “I can’t
remember what you look like, can you send me a pic?” When I got that picture I remember thinking, yessss she’s very pretty and still texting!! It’s true I asked if she wanted to go for a coffee and she had every right to stop texting but didn’t!

But we organised our first date.. at
a Sushi restaurant in Furth.

Our first date, awwwwww.. My best mate Ben rocks up for a weekend visit.. and I didn’t want to cancel so I asked if he could join, smooth! We had such a great night we met again the next night only this time with another best mate of mine Peter and another great night...

She definitely loves me now!

Okay, time to try this with just the two of us… So we went to Volksfest where we had a few beers, some chat that would get you put in jail today, a debate on the nutrition of corn on the cob and at the end of the night Katie lobbed the gob...

And it’s been us ever since.

"He is the positive to my negative,
the happy to my sad
and honestly, I would be absolutely lost without him."

Katie's Story

"To say it was love at first sight when I met Dave would be a stretch. I was in my ‘talk to anyone who might be English’ phase in Germany, and in that small Nuremberg bar, he looked a bit sad (and somewhat like Jack Nicholson). So, I went and said hi, and for reasons unknown, I told him I was from Wales. I didn’t even attempt an accent—the Vodka Club Mate must have been flowing!

From that moment, it was red flags all around. First he told me he was sad about a girl, then he asked me out for coffee, which is far from my idea of fun. I convinced him that beer would be a better choice and he picked me up in a brown car…a brown car that he had chosen - definitely the universe’s way of saying, “This man is not for you!”

But what I loved about Dave in 2016 and what I love even more about him now is his incredible ability to find the positive in everything.

Despite my best efforts to put him off, his determination won out, and I’m so glad it did. His positivity (which is at times, extremely annoying) shines through, even through the sleepless nights, money worries, and even with his new bag, he keeps smiling."

And then there are our two amazing children. I remember so well looking at you when Nolan was born, and without saying anything, I somehow knew you were thinking the same as me: that we didn't know love like this existed, and it was the best thing we ever did. Since day one, Nolan has brought so much joy to our lives; he made us a family, and life became magical. Then came Annie, our little wildflower, who filled the gap we didn’t know we had and completed our family. I feel very lucky that we seem to be on the same page when it comes to parenting. Honestly, with Dave by my side as we watch Nolan and Annie grow, life feels quite perfect.
